I was assuming that everyone would have upgraded to Emacs 21 by now.
However, I don't think there is much that is specific to Emacs 21 in
w32-symlinks, so I suggest existing Emacs 20 users of w32-symlinks try the
new version, but keep whatever version they are currently using in case the
new version causes problems. I normally test my code only in whatever
version I am currently running, which is usually the latest release or
pretest version and so is currently 21.3, and I no longer actively support
Emacs 20.

The main point about Emacs 21 is that it includes a version of ls-lisp with
hooks for w32-symlinks, which Emacs 20 does not. The version of ls-lisp
available from the obsolete packages section of my Emacs web site should run
in Emacs 20 and support w32-symlinks (I think). But my current version of
ls-lisp will not run in Emacs 20, mainly because there was a change to the
kernel support used by ls-lisp. If you were running w32-symlinks before
then don't upgrade ls-lisp. But I strongly recommend users of Emacs 20 who
want to try w32-symlinks to upgrade to Emacs 21 first!

Francis
