[h-e-w] W3 help

I'm attempting to get the W3 browser (w3-4) working with emacs 21.2.  After installation, I'm encountering the following error when trying to browse

 

(browse-url-w3):

  font-spatial-to-canonical: Wrong type argument: number-or-marker-p, nil

 

Anyone with insight on this issue?
