I have a few small problems with picking up files, my basic setup is that I
am using emacs 20.7.1 on an NT4 system, Samba is used to pick up files on a
Unix system e.g. my E: drive is mapped to //machina/users/me.
1) There is no problem picking up files from the Unix system, I am happy
with the way in which I can type in a file name in upper or lower case and
the file will be picked up. But when I am creating a file, I want it to be
created as typed e.g. I want the file DMH to be created as such, but it is
created as dmh - Does anyone know a way round this problem?. Note:
w32-downcase-file-names is nil.
2) When picking up a file e.g. E:/a/b/c/filename the file
//machina/a/b/c/filename is picked up instead of
//machina/users/me/a/b/c/filename. The only way I have found over this
problem is to use ange-ftp e.g. /address@hidden:/users/me/a/b/c/filename - Is
there a way of specifying the file name without using ange-ftp?
3) As my typing prowess is not that great, I would like to use abbreviations
when typing in file names especially with ange-ftp. Does anyone know of a
package, or know of lisp code that would achieve this for me?
