Simple C question

Hello,

     While working with cgicc I encountered problem with C and LINUX. I
noticed that while calling a child process(C program) from bash shell
script , if the child process setup environment using putenv function, it
can not be accessed by parent shell script. Is there any way to export
environment from child process to the parent process ???

Any help would be very appreciate.
