Yes it is, but GNOME was working in Guix long before GDM was working.
GNOME even worked with Wayland before GDM worked at all. We focused on
getting GDM to work on X first to make things simple, and that’s where
things have stayed.
In order to get GDM to work on Wayland, you would have to port a few
tweaks to the X parts of GDM to the Wayland parts, and test and debug it
until it works. This is something that I would like to do
“eventually”. ;) If anyone else would like to try, I would be happy to
help out and answer questions about the GDM package and service.
