That depends on the situation. Sometimes 'extra' scripts form part of the regular distribution and included as normal, sometimes they are included as separate outputs if they are large in size (or as separate packages), and sometimes they are simply not included. It really depends on what you'd like to see packaged (and maintained).

Also, for this to work, wxwidgets.scm needs a 4 character patch. Do I add this 
here as well?

Yes please. It isn't quite clear to me at this stage, but I would imagine a separate patch would be required.
