The primary file is ./RELEASE in CVS, but we've nearly finished
everything listed there for 1.6.0. I think the two big things
remaining are that I need to check whether or not the people working
on documentation have things in a state they're fairly comfortable
with, and whether or not Marius sufficiently happy with his bindings
work that he's ready to merge it in before the stable branch.

the OP should also look at devel/tasks.text -- it's quite out of date,
unfortunately. IMHO, some of the stuff in RELEASE should be moved there
so that RELEASE contains only generic release instructions (spiffing and
punting).
note that both RELEASE and devel subtree are from cvs checkout only, and
are not distributed.
