It won't be long before the Athens Olympics, and it seems timely to investigate
trade opportunities with Greece. So, in this issue I have a portal to
everything you need to know about doing business in Greece. Next, I profile a
site that has a master calendar with dates for just about everything important
that's happening in the world during the year. I also found a site where you
can set up an account with all your medical information, for easy access in
case of emergency when you're traveling. Finally, I have a portal to
international legal information, which is indispensable if you're doing
business in other countries.
If you'd like more information about international trade, go to FITA's
International Trade/ Import-Export Portal <http://fita.org> ( http://fita.org
), an excellent source for trade leads, news, events, and a link library of
7,000 sites related to international trade.

GREECE -- OUR FEATURED COUNTRY SITE
http://www.ibrc.business.ku.edu/country/europe/greece.html

The country of Greece is certainly not a newcomer to world trade. Greece was
one of the trading hubs of the ancient world, and it still depends on trade to
bring it the products it needs. Greece imported nearly US $32 billion in 2002,
and there are a lot of opportunities for savvy traders, especially with the
Athens Olympics coming up.
If you'd like to learn more about trade with Greece, go to the Greece page at
the University of Kansas
<http://www.ibrc.business.ku.edu/country/europe/greece.html> (
http://www.ibrc.business.ku.edu/country/europe/greece.html ). This
straightforward page has links to Greek financial markets, a business
directory, a report on information technology in Greece, a guide to investing
in Greece, country profiles, market reports, a travel guide, the latest news, a
Greek search engine, and much more.
There are more useful links to Greece at the FITA site. Simply go to
<http://www.fita.org/webindex/countries.html>, then go to Europe and click on
Greece. Or, you can type "Greece" in the search box at http://www.fita.org.

If you want to know when the Buddha's birthday is celebrated in South Korea, or
when the Royal Windsor Horse Show is, or even when the next Sundance Film
Festival is, there are many places online where you can find that information.
Now, however, there's one site that has all that information and more. DateDex
<http://www.datedex.com> ( http://www.datedex.com ) has calendars that list
worldwide religious and public holidays, festivals, sporting events, trade
shows, cultural events, economic summits, human rights conferences -- even
celebrity birthdays. I've never seen a site with so much date-specific
information. To make it even more useful, you can download important dates to
your computer or to a PDA (personal digital assistant).

A medical doctor from West Virginia was on vacation with his wife in Rome
recently when they had an extreme medical emergency. As MEDJET Assistance
members, they made a collect call to the 24 hour hotline and received quick
assistance.

They wrote, "My wife and I wish to express our deep appreciation for your rapid
and professional response to our medical emergency in Rome. We were amazed at
how you took care of the most minute detail and made it possible for us to
return to medical care in the States as quickly as possible. When we tell
people about our experience and how expertly you handled our return to the
United States they cannot believe that this could be done so expertly and
efficiently."
MEDJET Assistance is an annual membership program for U.S-based travelers
providing air medical transportation to its members should they become
hospitalized due to accident or illness virtually anywhere in the world. The
program transports members, free of charge, to the hospital of their choice,
most often in medically equipped and staffed jets. Click on
www.fita.org/travel/medjetdescript.htm
<http://fita.m.xtenit.com/ct.jsp?uz327937Biz356509> to become a MEDJET
Assistance member now at reduced FITA rates.

GUIDE TO LAW ONLINE: NATIONS OF THE WORLD

Legal systems vary the world over, and it's important for anyone doing
international business to be aware of legal issues that may affect them. You'll
find a useful portal to international law at the Law Library of Congress Guide
to Law Online: Nations of the World <http://www.loc.gov/law/guide/nations.html>
( http://www.loc.gov/law/guide/nations.html ). This site has everything you
need in a simple, streamlined format. Just click on the name of a country, and
you'll come to a page with: links to the country's constitution; information
about its executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government; legal
guides; country profiles; human rights information; statistics; diplomatic
contacts; and much more.

It can be a scary thing to have a medical emergency when you're traveling. You
could be thousands of miles away from your primary physician, specialists who
are familiar with you, and even the local pharmacy that fills your
prescriptions. Now, there's a Web site that can take a lot of the risk and
guesswork out of this situation. It's called PersonalMD.com
<http://www.personalmd.com/> ( http://www.personalmd.com ), and with it you can
set up an account so that medical personnel can access your medical history.
This site also lets you store medical records, immunization records and
important legal documents like wills and health proxies. Another neat service
is ReminderRx, which will remind subscribers to take medications, attend
appointments, etc. The reminder can be sent to your pager, cell phone, PDA and
e- mail.
