Well, I have a build now that passes 'make check' on ARM. What I've
done, to reach that, is
- forward port the Debian patch for libgc 7.1-8 to libgc git HEAD
(9448012a), and tweak that a bit until dpkg-buildpackage succeeds
- make one change to the threads.c code (starting from the 2.0.3 Debian
package).
Those changes are attached, for reference. However I ought to go back
now and work out (1) how much of them is strictly needed, and (2) how to
present what's really needed upstream.

I'm afraid I can't help in detail with those other ones, as I don't have
those systems.
