guile 1.6 appears fixed on ia64, powerpc, alpha, and sparc.

I've tested my recent fixes on each, and "make check" seems fine now.
I'll release 1.6.4 after I finish committing some of my own fixes and
after I hear back about some pending patches.

For those interested, the arch fixes were mostly of the

  while (!SCM_NULLP (t.arg1 = SCM_CDR (t.arg1))) { ... }

only works when changed to

  t.arg1 = SCM_CDR (t.arg1);  
  while (!SCM_NULLP (t.arg1)) { ... t.arg1 = SCM_CDR (t.arg1); }
  
variety, but there was also a sparc bug where we only tested in
__scm.h for #ifdef sparc, but judging from gc_os_dep.c, we needed to
be doing this:

  #if defined (sparc) || defined (__sparc__) || defined (__sparc)
  # define SCM_FLUSH_REGISTER_WINDOWS asm("ta 3")
  #else
  # define SCM_FLUSH_REGISTER_WINDOWS /* empty */
  #endif
