There may be legal issues requiring us to leave it the way it is,
though someone more versed will have to comment. I was under the
impression that the guile-readline directory might *need* to be as
separate as possible, but I'm not positive of that.
Anyone?
Also, if it's not urgent, you might want to hold off on any serious
auto* changes -- I'll be committing some stuff soon (day or so)
that'll touch a number of those files, though I believe nearly all
these changes relate to .so version handling.
