Sorry? Surely it's precisely _because_ they value this separation
that they think a standard access point is a good idea.
a standard access point is a great idea. a standard but non-extensible
access implementation, on the other hand, defiles the idea, and is not
so great. proposing both does not demonstrate valuing separation, IMO.
