So if decided we really did want to do this, I'd thought about
packaging guile 1.6 by hand, from scratch, so that there would be no
question about the copyrights.
the auto* tools provide some amount of automated packaging. as far as i
know, it is acceptable debian practice to handle things in a completely
dependent (downstream) way.
current and past debian packagers may agree to storage of the relevant
files and patches in the guile cvs repo (parent module of "guile-core")
as an overlay module. if so, it is easy to use anon cvs to get an up to
date, properly debianized(able) tree for further processing.
actually, any net-available place (even snapshot) is script fodder.
so question is, really: is this stuff online?
