So the question still remains. What do we want me to do for 1.6.X,
since it'll affect what at least guppi (and possibly scwm and gnucash)
have to do in their code?
I'd be happy to submit an appropriate patch along the lines suggested
above for approval, but is that what we want, or do we want to leave
it alone and continue the copy/pasting for now?
