thanks for pointing this out!  i confirmed erroneous behavior using
strace.  however, it was not so amusing for me, for some reason...

after applying the suggested fix (to both stable and development
branches), the loaded file is indeed $0 instead of an installed file.
a nice by-product is that searching is eliminated, reducing script
startup time.
