Yes.  You should also make sure that it is actively removed during
install for the next couple of releases.

Yes.  We should be careful that the things _are_ actually platform
independent, tho.  For example, snarfer output is not necessarily so
since it consists of preprocessed source which might contain macro
expansions that are platform dependent.
