My Thoughts

Life is not perfect and things don't arrive perfectly formed.  Grub2 has only recently got out into the wild and finds itself in some pretty strange places.  I think the devs that have worked on Grub2 need to congratulate themselves and deserve copngrats from the entire linux community.  It's hardly fair to say that "nobody liked grub1" because many of us fresh from Windows were hugely impressed by the blatant superiority of Lilo, let alone grub!  Many people use linux boot-loaders when the WIndopws one has fallen over or left a system unbootable.  Grub2 seems easier to install and it seems possible to iontall whichever grub2 yoiu prefer into whichever linux OS you prefer.

I think it is inevitable that some divergence will occur in the early days as people experiment with what works well and what doesn't.  Hopefully the upstream crowd will then take the best from the various distros and present it in a unified way, perhaps with renaming certain parts to make it appear less quirky to weeus

Good work people, thanks for the massive improvements :)
Many regards from
Tom :)
