I haven't done tests but efifb uses the data supplied by grub and
doesn't try to modeswitch (the corresponding EFI functions are
unavailable once kernel is loaded) so it should work on any firmware
even if name suggests otherwise.
Additionally after kernel is loaded EFI test functions can'tbe used so
efifb is the only way to show diagnostic messages on EFI so I expect
it to be inited early
