Sorry, for jumping in this discussion so late.
I am using initrd heavily with grub 1.94 and here is my grub.cfg file:
set timeout=1
insmod font
insmod terminal
insmod vbe
insmod gfxterm
menuentry "Linux" {
linux /bzImage root=/dev/ram splash=silent vga=791 quiet
initrd /loader.img
boot
}
menuentry "Reset to Factory defaults" {
linux /bzImage root=/dev/ram splash=silent vga=791 quiet
custom=reset-defaults
initrd /loader.img
boot
}
menuentry "Reset to Factory Video defaults" {
linux /bzImage root=/dev/ram splash=silent vga=791 quiet
custom=reset-video
initrd /loader.img
boot
}
menuentry "Complete Firmware upgrade ! ATTENTION ! ALL DATA WILL BE ERASED" {
linux /bzImage root=/dev/ram splash=silent vga=791 quiet
custom=firmware
initrd /loader.img
boot
}
The initrd is about ~15MB big,so Kernel is setup to be able to handle this big
initrd files.
Best regards
