Be specific. Otherwise, it's just a FUD.

GNU has been making effort on avoiding patents and trying to make 
alternatives. A good example is gzip. This was made due to a patent on 
compress. The FSF forces GNU maintainers not to use GIF due to the 
well-known LZW patent. If there are patent infringements in GNU 
Software, I'm very sure that RMS wants to make alternatives.
