Following up on an earlier illustrative post, here is
an example of some quite complicated page-formatting
entirely composed using groff (with output to the PS
device, and some embedded PostScript code using the
groff command \X'ps: exec ... ' for some special effects,
as well as using \X'ps: import ... ' to import the
images as Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) files.
The basis of this design is one which I use for birthday
greetings to friends and family (the "39" can be replaced
with any appropriate age, and other elements changed
appropriately), but for the sake of anonymity I have
designed it as a celebration of the birthday of a certain
famous lady.
As we all know, distinguishd ladies do not like reaching
the age of 40, so every birthday after and including their
39th is their 39th birthday -- which is the theme of this
greeting card.
