So stringt substitution for umlauts should work too--that's very good.

Do you know one word to test it? I tested with Kindergärten from the 
documentation--it dit not work for me:

.hla den
.hpf hyphen.den
.ll 11
Kinderg\(:arten

hyphenates as Kin-dergärten. With .ll 12 there ist no hyphenation. Or do I have 
to add .hcode requests by myself?

Second question: Do I have to write ".hla den" or ".hla de"? There is no error 
message in both cases and the documentation is not 100% clear.
