They are defined on page 29 of
http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/font/5004.AFM_Spec.pdf
They're per writing direction, and just give the numbers for the user of
the font to draw the line themselves; there's no built-in aspect of
this type of font that does that AFAIK.
