Peter, I don't understand the instructions, I guess, having never mucked with
fonts.  I'm guessing I need more preparation than I thought.
Can you help?

   sudo ~/bin/install_font *pfa

Further investigation shows that by 'textmap' the script means
        /usr/local/share/groff/1.21/font/devps/generate/textmap
What I see is:

           ls -R /usr/local/share/groff/

        /usr/local/share/groff/site-font:
        devpdf  devps

        /usr/local/share/groff/site-font/devpdf:

        /usr/local/share/groff/site-font/devps:
