As far as I can tell, even the MS macros only autonumber in footnote 
style. They do not do automatic numbering if you accumulate. Or I can't 
seem to make them do it.

Following Andy's suggestions, I copied the MS macros and I think I have 
all the same functionality as the MS macros in MM.  If I can figure out
how to put the automatic numbering in, I will send them to Joergen Hagg 
who wrote them.
