[Groff] Error in meref.me?

I find that, in order to put the chapter/appendix number in the header, 
I need a command like:

.++ A '\\\\\\\\n(ch''

That is, with *eight* backslashes, instead of 4, as the documentation 
states.  Do other users of -me find the same?  If so, line 1666 of 
meref.me has to be modified to:

.b ".++ RA \(aa\(aa\(aa\e\e\e\e\e\e\e\en)ch.%\(aa" .
