What is the exact input? By default, groff installs wrapper macros so
that the original Sun troff macros are called (in compatibility mode).
Does plain groff *without* a macro package fails also? Otherwise, the
groff macros have the `g' prefix, e.g. `groff -mgs ...' -- see the
PROBLEMS file how to disable that.
