[Groff] Goofy spacing in devps

I don't know if this a new issue, or particular to my machine.  The
spacing on all fonts appears rather odd when I select Postscript output.
Especially, around the letters l, i, f and j.  Especially when these
letters are clumped near each other.  Has anyone else noticed this?  Is
it an ongoing issue?
