True, and true.  I should have noted that I wrote this after
using groff 17.2 (or whatever version is in Debian 3.0) and
before checking out the CVS tree.  I also made a cruel
attack on the html driver...

(Or I should have avoided posting the link entirely, but there are a number
of pointers in there which I felt were useful to the OP.)
