[Groff] Column-wrapping output of .TC in ms

This seems to be covered nowhere in the .ms docs that ship with groff. 
Is there a way to cause the output of .TC to be affected by the .2C
macro?  I've tried just planting a .2C in front of .TC, and that either
doesn't work or has ugly results, depending on the day of the week.
