Hi,

I'm trying to compile groff 1.18 on Solaris 8 with gcc 2.95.2.
Here's the error messages I get:

Making groffer.n from groffer.man
gmake[2]: Leaving directory `/local/GROFF/groff-1.18/contrib/groffer'
gmake[2]: Entering directory `/local/GROFF/groff-1.18/contrib/mom'
test -d examples || /local/GROFF/groff-1.18/mkinstalldirs examples
test -f penguin.ps || cp
/local/GROFF/groff-1.18/contrib/mom/examples/penguin.ps .
GROFF_BIN_PATH=`echo /local/GROFF/groff-1.18/src/roff/groff
/local/GROFF/groff-1.18/src/roff/troff

GROFF_BIN_PATH; /local/GROFF/groff-1.18/src/roff/groff/groff

[cut lots of similar stuff...]

/local/GROFF/groff-1.18/tmac/latin1.tmac:104: warning: `trin' not defined

You need GNU troff version 1.18 or higher to run this version of mom!
gmake[2]: *** [examples/letter.ps] Error 1
gmake[2]: Leaving directory `/local/GROFF/groff-1.18/contrib/mom'
gmake[1]: *** [contrib/mom] Error 2
gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/local/GROFF/groff-1.18'

Is there there anything I can do to make it work? The reason I'm compiling
this version is that I'm trying to make tkman work properly. The tkman
homepage says that the "Bad text index.." messages I get in tkman are
related to a bug in groff, and that one should upgrade to a current
version that has a fix for this...

Thanks for all help!

Best regards,
Johan Bengtsson
