[Groff] grap question

Hi,
   How do I get grap to only put axis values at certain intervals without
knowing the bounds of the values in advance


 ticks bot out from ??? to ??? by 5

Is there a register value I can use for the ???'s or some alternative
syntax?

Any pointers much appreciated
