I stand corrected. I did find the wrappers at
/usr/local/lib/groff/site-tmac. I have deleted the wrappers I copied to the
other location.

I just used the same command line as you and the results show that somehow
it is reading the wrong mm macros.... I have to try with a more recent
snapshot as soon as I have the time to download and compile.
