I'm not sure, but I don't think that it would be as relevant for a manual
word processor as the user can just use the good old enter key to position
the text. Automated report writing is another matter....

By the way: Does anyone know if ANY of the "conventional" word processors
implements a proper floating keep?

By which I mean that a block of material to be "kept" will be printed on
the current page if there is room, or on the next page if not (with
subsequent text brought up to carry on continuously from preceding text),
and perhaps with the option for the "kept" material to be printed either
at the top or at the bottom of the next page?

I think the nearest may be WordPerfect, but I have had serious
difficulties with this in the past, especially in cases where the current
"kept" block being pushed down should push down later kept blocks but
doesn't, so it all ends up tangled.

I can't see anything comparable in Word.

With thanks,
Ted.
