I prefer the later, myself.  But both work, of course.  Could you and the
others consider whether to include
.als null @nop
or similar as 'standard issue' from now on? Easier to remember, too, I
think. 

Perhaps other uses will present themselves over time. Toggling debug
macros or something. Who knows?
