All documentation for your part is behind a login. With no doc,

GPS antennas are unlike most other antennas. The main point i sthat
a GPS antenna is circularly polarized. Most GHz antennas are linearly
polarized, so don't pick up GPS sigaals. Then you need a good LNA that
has GPS signas its pass band.

Nope. gpsd has no problem reading your NMEA, if you get it on a tty.
Fix, or no fix, but it is not exactly useful with no fix, no time, etc.
