Thanks Gary,
no problem to compress a stream from gpspipe.
I was, however, thinking about something mor GNSS specific that removes redundant or unimportant data with little loss of precision.

Nope.  But you could compress it yourself.  Maybe pipe the output of
"gpspipe -w" through a compressor.
