THere are easier ways to capture the GNSS reciver output.
While gpsd is running: gpspipe -Rx 20 > raw.log
Also try to run gpsd with the "-nND 4" flags, and grab a minute of
stderr from the very start. That will explain why gpsd rejects your
GSVs.
