No, it doesn't look like an easy fix. First, someone needs to come up
with a good name for the socket that will make it clear it's for
messaged based samples. The gps_device structure needs a new field for
the socket, which needs to be opened somewhere and then it can be used
in all_reports(). And it should also be documented.
