yo gary,

i think the issues are related to the python version.
i installed the latest repo on my macbook pro.
here i have python version 2.7.13 and xgps works fine.

the system with the installed gps hardware
has python version 2.7.3
the last version of xgps doesn't work.
i have to use commit id ffbdd9205ec9cea0373f84d643e05a47e691ae37

i am not a python expert. no idea what to do. all i know
python is a dangerous snake. :-)
