Oregons x00 are predecessors of x50 series. These only lack 3D compass and camera. They doen't have serial port, only USB.

I ran gpsmon and repluged GPS few times. It got following chunks of data:

but these data came only when the GPS got plugged, then GPS became dumb.

I don't have a manual for that one.  Do you have the PDF?

Do you have the Linux Garmin module loaded?
Yes, it creates /dev/ttyUSB0 and gpsd hooks on it.

That could be your problem.  The Garmin module is for Garmin USB b inary,
but the 450 (at least) is NMEAA and/or Garmin Serial Bianry.

So try to run without that module.

Also be sure you are using a recent version of gpsd.  What are you on?
