By the way, the sample sentences below do decode properly using the page at http://rl.se/aivdm.
I'm not sure if the page uses some gpsd variant or another method.

The version of gpsdecode that I'm using returns nothing when it is presented with a AIS type 24A message.  It does decodes type 24B just fine.

If I put the following (evidently valid) sentences into a file called test24 and run:
$gpsdecode -J < test24 I get no output from gpsdecode.

All other AIS message types that I have tried work just fine including type 24B.

I'm using the version of gpsdecode / gpsd that is available in Ubuntu's repositories for Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS.

gpsd -V yields:
gpsd: 2.92 (revision svn)
When I run gpsdecode -V I see:
SVN ID: $Id: gpsdecode.c 6965 2010-01-30 14:19:42Z esr

Have there been bug-fixes or changes since 2.92 that might solve this problem?
Is there a Debian / Ubuntu package for installing gpsd v3?

Thanks
