Yes, is actively developed. The last release (gnustep-base and gnustep-make)
was done some weeks ago.

As far as I know, Ivan Vucica is working in a new backend wich will help
with the development of UIKit.

Not sure. The GNUstep team is small, so we can't cover all.

That would be great. But we need first be sure there isn't legal issues
with implement the touch technology of Apple. If I remember correctly
I read an article about this issue, but not sure.
