a) I've been running GNUstep on FreeBSD 5.0 and 5.1 without problems
   (haven't switched to 5.2.1 yet)

b) GNUstep *can* be installed via /usr/ports/devel/gnustep, however, the
port can be seen as 'broken' as it does NOT install all requirements
listed below (eg. libaudiofile is not included)

c) Preferred installation would be from CVS, so you need to install
dependencies 'by hand' via ports. These are listed below.

Requirements for FreeBSD, installation from /usr/ports

Overall:
- gmake -- needed, it's GNU make
- teTex -- optional, for TeX Documentation
- gcc3.x -- needed on FreeBSD < 5.x
FreeBSD 4.x has gcc 2.95.x by default
so you may need libobjc on those

Make/Base:
- ffcall -- (may depend on compiler)
- libffi -- (may depend on compiler)
- libiconv
- libxml2
- openssh-overwrite-base -- needed on FreeBSD < 5.x, if SSL

Gui/Back:
- libaudiofile -- optional, for Sound
- freetype2 -- (not sure if needed for back-x11)
- libart_lgpl2 -- optional, if back-art

Note that these ports (may) have additional dependencies. Not included
are TIFF, JPEG, etc. as these are dependencies of Window Maker anyway.
