Is there a standard way to plug in a file descriptor to be selected or
polled from within the gnustep event handling system?
You can use the NSFileHandle if you want to maintain some sort of
MacOS-X compatibility (though the MacOS-X compatible part of the api
won't let you get write events), or you can use the
NSRunLoop(GNUstepExtensions) category methods to watch a descriptor ...
in which case an object of your choice receives a callback when an
event occurs (see the RunLoopEvents protocol).
