I think only supporting gnustep together with -make also insures that it get's tested more often on OS X. I'm sure if we add all these OS X / PB conveniences, people won't be using -make there at all, and that might cause other issues that are hard to track down, in both configurations.
I wouldn't mind leaving gnustep/base gnustep/gui gnustep/whatever and just readjusting the headers to be installed in the correct directories. I'd have a couple of free cycles this weekend... Cheers, David
