there were long discussions on this topic. The biggest issue is that it would 
either require a migration of
issues from mantis or a cut (Feel free to browse the ML archives).
Also, the current gitolite setup can be administered completely via config 
files in git, which is something gitlab is way too bloated for.
In general, I would also prefer separate, lean services over a single behemoth.
But I also see the easy of use and shininess of gitlab.

In general, I have most issues with mantis (which are mostly that is feels like 
a tool form 1999) and I like buildbot and gitolite.
