Well, currently the only way to share a directory D is to run
"gnunet-insert-multi D/*", and the DB style does not matter.
But yes, we definitely need to work on the documentation and give people a
better idea of their choices and the impact of the choice. I'm not sure if
more text is the answer or if a wizard-style GUI to setup gnunet would not be
the better answer (gnunet-setup, anyone?)
