First of all, OpenSSL is the defacto standard currently for a crypto API. Until
that changes I think it's a "Good Thing" to support it. Also, as with the
network support and file support, GNUnet is extensible and provides options for
it's users. I'm not a big fan of being tied to any one software. What do you
mean by 'more optimized versions of openssl'?
