I've just gone over the LaFrere theme and added the <body> tags which had been missing for months. Ooops. If anybody would like to do some work on making sure the themes validate, and are well coded that'd be a good thing around now. There's also a lot of nice CSS designed available at the Open Source Web Design site which might prove inspirational to people who are feeling creative: http://www.oswd.org/ It's probably a good time to reexamine them all and make sure they are valid and complete .. just something I never seem terribly thrilled by doing myself!
Each template seems to use a different dtd: XHTML 1.0 Strict XHTML 1.0 Transitional HTML 4.0 Transitional HTML 4.01 Transitional Which one is the target? All? Perhaps a standard should be imposed?Xhtml strict is the most demanding and would require the most changes. For example, wdg validator doesn't like the bgcolor attribute in a table tag, which is pretty fundamental to these templates. Perhaps xhtml transitional is best for now because you can do this.
What think the group? I'm no expert on dtd stuff. I just use a spec, run the validator and correct the problems until the warnings go away.
